Bulletproof Coffee, AKA “Fatty Coffee”, or “Ballistic Coffee”, or “Butter Coffee”, is a daily morning treat. The coconut oil has Medium chain triglycerides which will kick start your body into creating ketones and burning fat. The grassfed butter is a good source of anti-inflammatory omega 3’s.
It may take a few times having this to really acquire the taste for it, but once you do you’ll never want sugar or sweetener in your coffee again.
Take a cup of freshly brewed hot coffee and put it into a Magic Bullet or small blender. Add 1-2 TBSP of grass-fed butter (I use Kerrygold), 1-2 TBSP of organic unrefined coconut oil, and blend up for 10-20 seconds. The result is a frothy fatty cup of yumminess similar in consistency to a latte. This breakfast will keep you full for hours and allow your body to stay carb-free all morning.
If you don’t have a small blender, you can use a milk frother such as this one. Very effective and is also nice for making whipped cream.
You can also add a TBSP of organic heavy whipping cream, and some people even add a raw pasture-raised egg, before spinning it in a blender.
If you need it sweet, or something different, try adding a couple drops of a flavored stevia (like sweet drops brand) or a dash of cinnamon or unsweetened cocoa powder.
You can read more about Bulletproof coffee from Dave Apsrey’s book, or from Dave Asprey’s site.
Watch Tim Tebow make his own Bulletproof Coffee of Dr. Oz show here. He even talks about how he follows a Ketogenic diet and promotes its health benefits!
You can also make a Bulletproof Hot Cocoa! Just replace coffee with hot water or heated almond milk with heavy cream. Add unsweetened cocoa powder or drinking chocolate powder, and spin!
