A lot of mixed drinks are very high in sugar, making them not keto friendly. However, you can still find a way to have your favorite drinks from time to time with a few easy modifications.
How to make a low-carb dirty shirley:
- 1 jigger shot of vodka
- 12 fluid ounces of lemon or lime flavored seltzer water
- 2 fluid ounces of sugar-free black cherry Torani syrup, or sugar-free strawberry
- 1/2 cup of ice
Simply mix all ingredients in a chilled pint glass and enjoy!
Keep in mind that sucralose (which is what is in most sugar-free syrups) is not recommended on keto if you are trying to heal a sickness, but some still tolerate it in small amounts while still staying in ketosis. For more information see my article on Strict Keto vs Low Carb.
